I have returned home to Wellington and I am seeking a new leadership role in the New Zealand public service
Five years ago, I decided it was time for a change. I had thrown myself fully into leading work on public service reform in New Zealand and wanted to spend more time with my young family and support my partner, Angela, in her career aspirations.
Five years on, my children have grown (now 12, 10 and 7) and as a family we have expanded our horizons by following Angela’s work to the USA, Europe and Singapore.
During that period, I expanded my professional horizons by working as the United Nations Development Programme’s lead international consultant on civil service reform in Myanmar and Mongolia. Across 14 in-country missions, I worked with local and UN teams to develop national reform strategies and support their implementation.
I also worked with the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on developing a common approach to developing foreign affairs, trade and development policy that is now used across MFAT and on supporting the strengthening of public governance in Pacific Island countries.
Now we have returned home to Wellington, in time for our oldest child to start high school, and I get the opportunity to return to the New Zealand public service in a full-time and ongoing capacity.
As my CV outlines I have strong strategy, policy, organisational change, communications and executive leadership skills. I am keen to take on a role that exploits my passion for leading teams, developing new ideas and bringing people together to achieve change.
